Microsoft Office 2016 Installation Procedure

 
NOTE: Free versions of Microsoft Office are only available for state-owned computers.

First, Download the installer

  1. Office Professional 2016 for Windows
  2. Office Standard 2016 for macOS

 

Installation Procedure

  1. Run the installer
  2. Agree to the terms
  3. Click Next through the installation steps
  4. Click Install at the end
    1. Microsoft Office 2016 should install
  5. Delete the Office installer from the computer
  6. Empty the trashtrash/recycle bin

 

Verify Office Functionality

  1. Launch Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to verify that they open without errors.
  2. Once each app has successfully opened go to each's Help Menu > “Check for Updates”
    1. You can also opt to allow Microsoft to do automatic updates in the background with Microsoft AutoUpdate.

 

Activate Office After Installation

  1. Open Word
  2. Click File -> Help -> Change product key
  3. Enter the product key - provided by the IT Group
  4. Click continue (Leave the “Activate online now” checkbox checked)
  5. Click Install Now
    1. Click “Yes” when prompted by User Account Control
  6. Close activation configuration window
  7. Close Word then reopen it to complete activation process

 

Remove old versions

  1. Move old versions of Microsoft office to the trash and empty the trash
    1. This will remove the older versions, leaving you with the new version
