General

Q: I receive a notification on my Dashboard to update WordPress, do I need to update WordPress on my site?

A: No, WordPress and plugin updates are handled by IT.

Q: Where can I find a list of WordPress references and tutorials?

Q: How do I add specific content (i.e. FAQ’s) to the WordPress Dashboard?

A: This functionality will be added to a plugin at a later time.

Q: If I have an existing WordPress website could it be migrated over?

A: Please submit a Help Desk ticket for information regarding content migration.

 

Web-Admin Abilities

Q: Is there a way for Web Admins to add additional users or Web Admins to their WordPress site?

A: Please submit a Help Desk ticket to request additional users.

Q: Do Web Admins have the ability to edit the header where the MLML logo currently is and are there any substitutions to replace the MLML logo and text?

A: This functionality is not available at this time.

 

Public Access

Q: Could WordPress websites under development be shared with the public?

A: We ask that you keep your site within the MLML community until it is officially published.

Q: Is it possible to password protect a specific area of my website?

A: Navigate to Dashboard > Pages > All Pages > Quick Edit > password.

Q: How do I password protect my website?

A: Please submit a Help Desk ticket to request password protection.

Q: If I mark a pages as "Private" while I'm still working on them, will that be ok as the site goes live? I'll make them public again once they're finished.

A: Yes, pages marked as “Private” will not be displayed unless they are enabled as “Public.”

 

Slider Options

Q: What are the standard image dimensions for slider images on the customization page?

A: The slider images on the main site are set to 1400x500. We suggest that slider images be cropped to a width of 1400 and a height that is consistent for all of your slides.

Q: How do I add or remove slider images?

A: Navigate to the Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Slider Options.

Q: How do I enable the slider on all of the pages of my website?

A: Navigate to the Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Slider Options > Show slider on all pages.

Q: How do I enable or disable the slider on my website?

A: Navigate to the Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Slider Options > Enable the slider.

 

 

Headers and Footers

Q: Is it possible to use a static image on the header instead of the slider?

A: Yes, the number of slides must be set to 1. Navigate to the Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Slider Options > Number of Slides = 1.

Q: Do Web Admins have the ability to edit the header where the MLML logo currently is and are there any substitutions to replace the MLML logo and text?

A: This functionality is not available at this time.

Q: How do I edit the footer?

A: Please submit a Help Desk ticket for assistance with editing your website’s footer.

 

Pages and Posts

Q: Is it possible to display the most recent date a webpage has been modified?

A: This functionality is not available at this time.

Q: Why does the Preview Changes button seem to not update changes immediately?

A: There appears to be a bug when previewing new Pages and Posts that have not been published yet.

Q: How do I create a directory table like those on the main website?

A: Copy and paste results from: http://divtable.com/generator/ into SiteOrigin Editor Text tab. Uncheck "Automatically add paragraphs". You can switch to the Visual tab to edit the cells.

Q: Is it possible to display the same content on two separate pages?

A: Currently you cannot display the same content on two different pages, however, it is possible to display the same post feeds on different page using the "Recent Posts Extended" widget.

Q: How do I copy or duplicate an existing Page or Post?

A: Open your existing Page or Post in one tab and the new one in another > Right-click a row on your existing Page or Post > Copy Row > Paste Row into new Page or Post > repeat until finished.

Q: Page titles appear in the SiteOrigin Editor but do not appear on the page after being published. Is there a way to fix this?

A: This is a known bug. One work around is to add the title in the main editor body.

Q: How do I add a table to a page?

A: Copy and paste the HTML code from here into a SiteOrigin Editor Text tab. Uncheck "Automatically add paragraphs" in the editor. To edit the cells, switch to the Visual tab.

 

 

Background and Layout

Q: How do I change the color of the background on a page?

A: Users cannot change the background color at this time. You can, however, change the background color of widgets and rows in Page Builder.

Q: How do I edit the layout of a page?

A: Read Page Builder's tutorial on how to get acquainted with rows, columns, and how to adjust them.

 

 

Images and Videos

Q: How do I display a photo album on a page?

A: Please use FooGallery to create photo albums. The Gallery Shortcode found on the sidebar of a selected FooGallery is used to display a photo album in a SiteOrigin Editor widget.

Q: How do I overlay text on an image?

A: Navigate to FooGallery plugin > Hover Effect Type - Caption > Always Visible.

Q: Should I use FooGallery, the SiteOrigin Image widget, or use images inside the SiteOrigin Editor?

A: This depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want add a photo gallery, use FooGallery. If you want to fit an image in here or there, use the SiteOrigin Image widget. If you want text to flow around your image, add it through the SiteOrigin Editor inline with your text.

Q: How do I insert a FooGallery in a page or post?

A: Create a FooGallery > Add a Text widget to a page > Paste the FooGallery shortcode into the Custom HTML widget.

 

Embedding and Linking Outside Information

Q: How do I add a form to a web page?

A: Navigate to Ninja Forms > copy shortcode > Page Builder > paste into Custom HTML widget OR PageBuilder > Add Widget > SiteOrigin Contact Form. You must submit a Help Desk ticket before publishing the form so that IT can add a captcha to fight spam.

Q: How do I embed Google Calendar, Google Maps, or JavaScript in a page?

A: Please submit a ticket to request embedded content.

Q: Are links to external websites allowed?

A: Yes, but do not link to direct images or txt files.

 

Mega Menu

Q: How do I properly use Page Builder to edit the Max Mega Menus?

A: Use the “Mega Menu” option (not Flyout). The Layout Builder widget will allow the most flexibility (this gives you access to Page Builder in your mega menu). Click “Select a Widget to add to the panel” list > Layout Builder and select 2 columns to create a Mega Menu.

Q: How do I modify the width of an individual sub-menu?

A: We suggest people use the "Mega Menu" option instead of the "Flyout Menu" option to avoid this.
